2nd Annual Ride for Youth

Last Saturday, our Halifax Clubs hosted their 2nd annual Ride for Youth. Riders from all over came to ride the scenic 60 miles around Lake Gaston. The ride ended at Littleton Food and Spirits, where there was live music, food, and raffles. There was marvelous turn out this year - all the proceeds generated by the event go directly to our Halifax Clubs. Riders came out in force to show their support for our community and children. The Boys & Girls Clubs is incredibly thankful for everyone’s help - whether volunteering, donating, or being a rider. We would like to thank the event sponsors, Coldwell Banker Advantage, Enviva, Littleton Food & Spirits, Healthy Blue NC, Collier Harley-Davidson, Halifax County Sheriff's Office (thank you for leading the ride!), Hilton Garden Inn Roanoke Rapids, Dr. Bert & Bessie Piggott, and The Counsel Rye Lodge. 2019 Annual  Fishing Tournament

Thank you so much to Collins Inc. - Bass For Cash Series, our sponsors, and all the fishermen (and ladies) for a great day of fishing on Saturday. Everyone got up early for a good cause and to catch some big fish!

Duke Energy funds STEM Programs

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina has been providing STEM programs and activities in 2017 thanks to Duke Energy’s sponsorship of the program. The program has been operating in all locations located in Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Vance and Warren counties.

“We are extremely grateful to Duke Energy for this opportunity”, says Floyd Johnson, CEO of the organization. “We use this as an opportunity to expose our Boys & Girls Club members to opportunities to learn about science, technology, engineering and math in fun and exciting ways. Our members have responded well and want more of these activities included in our daily program”. Read more here.

Youth of the Year

Congratulations to LaZariah Harris from Vance County for being named the Boys and Girls Clubs 2019 Youth of the Year. Keep up the good work, LaZariah!

A Learning Experience

A couple of dozen students from the Boys and Girls Clubs in Vance and Granville counties were huddled in groups poring over study sheets Saturday morning in preparation for the African-American quiz bowl at the Henderson City Council chambers.
